Would you like to have your event information printed in the 2010-2011 student planner?  If so, please complete this form.  Student organization events must be confirmed with Rebecca Delo in the Student Life Office and will not be printed until the group's advisor confirms the event and any space reservation has been finalized. 

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Resident Assistant at Muskingum University! Please take care when completing the application as these responses are closely reviewed and evaluated. Note that we have very limited spaces available for the spring.

Each candidate is also responsible to request two individuals to serve as references on their behalf. The link for the reference form is provided in this application for candidates to send to their respective references. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that both the application and the reference forms are complete and submitted by the deadlines of Friday, November 16, 2012 by 5:00 p.m. & Friday, November 23, 2012 by 5:00pm respectively.

Interviews will be conducted November 26- Nov 28. This is also a mandatory part of the selection process. You will be interviewed by a team made up of professional staff and at least one current Resident Assistant. You’ll submit your interview time preferences at the end of this application. Be prepared to speak about your experiences and what you hope to learn from the RA experience. Don’t be nervous about these interviews—all of the interviewers want to see you succeed!

After submitting, you will get an email confirming that your application/references have been received and you will be given an interview time based on the preferences you provided.

Due to copyright laws, groups and organizations who want to show a movie on campus must have the rights to that movie. Movie rights can be purchased through Swank Motion Pictures. To see a list of available options go to: http://www.swank.com/college/index.html. If you are looking for a specific movie, and it is not listed, please contact Amber Zifzal (azifzal@muskingum.edu) to discuss possible options.

The license to show a film can range from $300-$800 depending on the film, it’s popularity, and release date. Funding may be available to student groups to help purchase the license to show a film. To request funding, see Susan Waryck (shogland@muskingum.edu) with questions or requests.

This form must be completed at minimum, 10 business days prior to the event.  This will insure that the movie can be ordered and will arrive before the date of showing.

As you are planning the details of your event, if you are planning on using the CenterBoard equiptment that is located in the Chess Social Hall, a student media technician will set up and tear down all equipment.  You will also be charged a nominal fee for this service.  Groups are not permitted to use the equipment without prior approval of the CenterBoard Advisor, Amber Zifzal.    

Big Concert cannot be successful without the help of volunteers.  Volunteers are needed beginning the afternoon of Friday, April 20, as well as the day of the concert, April 21.  

All who volunteer will be given a FREE T-SHIRT!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a 2013 Orientation Leader!  Each year the Student Life staff look for a diverse pool of qualified applicants to pick the best Orientation Leaders possible to represent Muskingum on Opening Weekend.  OLs play an integral role in our orientation program and have an enormous impact on incoming students and their families.

Qualified Orientation Leader Candidates should have the following:

• Good Communication Skills:  you will be talking with new students and their families all the time.  You need to be able to listen to their needs and assist them properly;
• A Welcoming Personality:  you will be responsible for creating a comfortable atmosphere for students and families;
• A Desire to Meet New People:  you can't be shy!  You will meet hundreds of new students as an OL!
• Good Knowledge of Muskingum University:  we will teach you things as well, but it helps to know a lot about Muskingum!
• Pride/School Spirit:  we want to show these students that Muskingum really is the best choice for them!
• Ability to Work Well with Others:  you will be working with a team of your peers, as well as, with new students.  It's important that you can get along well with other people.
• Initiative:  you will be given assignments, but it's important to anticipate people's needs and work to meet them, rather than wait to be told what to do;
• Desire to Have Fun:  this will be a great experience for you!

In addition to the above qualities, Orientation Leaders MUST also have the following qualifications:

• Be in good student conduct standing (i.e. not on probation for violations of Code of Student Conduct);
• If a fall athlete, you must still be able to confidently commit to all Orientation activities;
• You may not be a Resident Assistant, employed for the 2013-2014 academic year;
• Must be committed to work all Orientation days and sessions (Brief meeting on Thursday, August 22, Orientation begins on Friday, August 23 and continues through Sunday, August 25) 

Orientation Leader Selection Timeline

• Applications will remain open until May 31, 2013 or until 25-30 qualified candidate applications are accepted.
• Accepted candidates will receive an email confirmation and continual communication throughout the summer so it is crucial that candidates check their Muskingum email accounts.

Compensation

• This is a volunteer position, however all accepted OLs will receive a tshirt(s) that is required to be worn throughout the Opening Weekend activities.

This is the form to be used for all special event funding requests to Student Senate. This form is separate from the Budget Allocations form and is to be used when funding is sought any time during the acedemic semester for special events only. This form must be submitted at least one week before the senate meeting at which the funding will be sought.
